Ede People

The Ede people, a minority group living in the Southern Highlands near Dalat, lead a very meager existence.

The government tried to rehouse these people in a nearby town, providing them with new accommodation with running water and sewage but nearly all of the houses remain empty, as these proud people prefer to live their traditional life herding animals and living off the land.

The people and the scenery look very South American; I kept having to remind myself I was in Vietnam.

They must know what is good for them.. I suppose the freedom they feel is worth more than running water..

It looks pretty idyllic, Jules. I don't blame them for not wanting to be moved.

Wow this is interesting indEDE. Dive sent me over here, since my family name is Ede! Now i see why i can't afford a new laptop....

What great pictures these are. If they are happy as they are, why should they be moved? If they are not, then they deserve all the help they need.

From Ede to Ede, helloooooo!!! lol.

What is the origin of the name, Jules, do you know/can you find out?

Hi Guys - thanks for popping in!!!

Lynn - what a coincidence but I really can't see any family likeness!!

My name is actually Julie but I am a bit snotty that I wasn't called Julia !! Jules is just short for Julie I always thought - not sure if there is any other history. My family calls me Jul (pronounced Jewel) and my friends call me Jules.
